Coco’s Love Diaries-The Good People

Madonna has this line in her song that says “The road to hell is paid with good intentions” , makes you think about why is it that good people “ALWAYS” seem to finish last these days? Why is  there a common misconception that good is for the weak? I feel like I am living in a wrong generation, where being Ruthlessness, cunning is being appraised, and honesty, integrity is being opposed. It’s almost like good people are damned if they do and damned if they don’t, is the greater good a curse in today’s cut throat world I ask?

They say good is the enemy of great, but what does it take to be great today? At what cost? Has everything that we ought to think of as immoral now suddenly become moral? Ever think about how sometimes life is set up for you to fail. Don’t you ever feel like you are doomed anyway before you even try. Think about the people who come from a life of poverty and how the cycle of living in such continues. I find it so ironic how companies, Financial Institutions especially i.e banks, insurance companies etc look for candidates with a clear credit record, but when you have debt the reason why you are looking for a job is so you can pay that debt, but now you can’t get hired because of that debt that was accumulated for whatever reason. Even though you are fully qualified, got everything they looking for, however that inci-teeny-weeny  little bit of detail, is everything, that stumbling block in getting you hired almost anywhere. How are we to reform criminals form repeatedly going back to the life of crime when they cannot get hired anywhere because of a record that reminds them of their mistakes from their past?

Ever wonder if people who commit all these crimes were ever good? What happened in their lives to make them turn out to be so carelessly vicious? I know for sure that nobody is ever born wanting to kill, rape, rob, hurt somebody, that is usually taught. It comes from somewhere, where a perception was changed due to  something they experienced I would think. There are those criminals who have just accepted that this is who they are, they live with it, daily, they are okay with it, however I am more concerned with those that choose differently but still have the worst luck in life ever. It’s like there is always a dark cloud hanging around this poor souls that want to change for the greater of good.

There is this quote:

“Conquer the angry one by not getting angry; conquer the wicked by goodness; conquer the stingy by generosity, and the liar by speaking the truth.

[Verse 223]”
― Gautama Buddha,

Easier said than done you may feel? Well I agree, it is not that easy, I mean as much as our peers ,everyone around us is human, you are human too. There are days when my morals take a ship to Pluto, where if one person had to swears at me  and I feel yes “YOU TOO…. Dammit!! If someone comes at me and they want to hit me, I will be like, I will F#$@ the living bits out of you, I won’t just hurt you, I will kill you. The only problem with that is, I have this conscious, that is the space in my head that is righteous and God comes in there and He gives it to me good and hard, and SHWEM He doesn’t hold back hey, I will feel worse than somebody who killed 4million people. It’s like when I was naughty as a kid and Mammie will just take off her shoe, throw it at me, even though she would miss *Laughs Out Loud* I would cry because I made her so mad that she had to take off her shoe and throw it at me.

This is exactly how Wars amongst countries begin, its start with one person/group of people from a country, deciding to being provoke another  for whatever reason and it’s a continuous battle, blood-shed, innocent lives lost, until one country finds itself at its mercy of the other, and they call that victory. Is it really? The world has still not learned its lesson about what Wars till this day but that’s another love diary note

“Only the dead have seen the end of war.”
― Plato

We are at War, all the time, sometimes it is with ourselves, family, colleagues, mates, wives/ husbands, partners. What we really have to ask ourselves is “is this war really worth it?” . That is the secret of successes of all good people, they always choose to do good, because they understand what it is like to  suffer,  to have your heart broken,  to sleep without having food, to not be UNDERSTOOD!!

Good people will have their hearts broken, timeously, in different ways, by different people, however will not fear to allow themselves to be vulnerable, and allow fear to stop them from fully, whole heartedly loving other people. If you find yourself having to deal with obstacles over and over again, when your intentions are for the greater of good, keep doing what is right. Nelson Mandela was in prison for 27 years, that didn’t stop his believe of a free South Africa. Oprah was raped as a child, lost a baby, however that never stopped her from ruling the media world.

Being good has its rewards, it never comes easy, in time, or place that you would want it to however when you get it, its humongous.

Just remember that:

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.”

The struggle is not being good, the struggle is that the world is not always ready for your goodness and what you have to offer.

Keep on keeping on.

Its Coco.
